Public Relations Job Description
The key objective of this position is to work with all internal teams and vendors to support the company’s image through special VIP events, retail relations, online media, and press activities.
Candidate must be an experienced communications professional who will oversee media relations (consumer, trade, online) and internal communications (newsletter) for the AKOO Clothing Brand: www.akooclothingbrand.com.
Candidate will work with senior management to create strategic communication strategies and publicity efforts for all aspects of the brand. Position requires experience and relationships in the fashion community as well as established record of successful media placements with national, regional AND blog outlets. At least 5 years experience in fashion/lifestyle/entertainment PR agency, publishing or corporate environment required.
Candidate must come to the job with deeply established relationships with editors from national monthly magazines, top circulating newspapers and key blogs. Must also be comfortable working with celebrities, stylists and have experience with event planning and execution.
Specific Duties Include:
· Maximize Publicity for company initiatives
· Support press activities including: editorial pulls, pitching stories, setting up press interviews, working with celebrities, editorial luncheons and fashion shows.
· Manage relationships with national and local press in partnership with the local PR Managers
· Develop and implement media plans including the creation of press materials and securing editorial placements in national and regional publications
· Partner with the entire Publicity and Special Events team to ensure the coordination of major corporate initiatives such as seasonal launches, brand collaborations, print/viral image campaign, in-store retail programs and large image events
· Help develop special events and retail programs
· Support local marketing teams in creating market specific programs to maximize marketing opportunities
Skills/Requirements:
· Bachelors Degree
· Minimum 5 years experience in a fashion/lifestyle/entertainment PR agency, publishing or corporate environment.
· Extensive track record of successful media placements in national broadcast and print outlets.
· Established media contacts at national and regional outlets—both consumer and trade.
· Experience working alongside top corporate management; must be confident with senior execs.
· Excellent writing skills (samples required) and Excellent verbal/pitching skills.
· Self-starter, creative thinker.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
This candidate must be organized, efficient, a self starter and most importantly, MUST be able to multitask.
