As an International Communications and PR major it is really important for me to land a strong internship in the PR industry to not only get experience but also to network and make priceless connections. The need for an internship combined with my passion for all things fashion makes my dream internship one of the hardest to find, fashion PR. My search for any kind of job in fashion PR has been long and sometimes disappointing, yet recently took a turn in the right direction when I was offered an interview with a PR firm specializing in online media. I was immediately sold on the job when I did some research on the company and found out their clients include Neiman Marcus, Burberry and Bergdorf! After a few days of phone tag with the receptionist I finally confirmed my interview for next Tuesday, July 20th and once I stopped jumping up and down from excitement I realized I had a lot to prepare before the big interview.
Interviewing well involves lots of preparation including what to wear, what to bring, what to say and most importantly how to make a last impression. For Part One I will focus on what to wear first because I believe that if you feel confident in your outfit, that confidence will radiate through the entire interview. How you are dressed for an interview is the first thing an employer will notice and can either help or hurt the impression you leave on them, especially when interviewing for a fashion related job! For my interview I plan on combining business appropriate pieces with pops of color and fashion savvy touches of my personal style.
