About A Rebours:

A REBOURS is a free themed monthly happening, a nocturnal art space where the attendees are the main exhibit. Offering aesthetic and aural delights, an array of guest DJs are encouraged to offer music to follow each month’s theme, spanning a variety of moods from Italo Disco/ New Wave/ No Wave/ Post Punk/ Rock N Roll/ Beat/ Garage/ Psychedelia: earthly delights guaranteed to cut a dash on any dance floor.

The title, taken from the nineteenth century novel by Joris-Karl Huysmans charting the inspired aesthetic and artistic indulgence of the French aristocracy, sets the scene: it is fair to say that that since being founded on Reece Prince Watson’s 21st birthday, A REBOURS has rapidly become more than just a club night. During its first eight months alone it has become the epicenter of the creative beat of London’s next generation. From the outset, A REBOURS has dedicated its walls to the work of young east London-based visual artists and photographers, its stage to the hottest talents from the UK, USA and Europe, and showcased an array of new talent in the inaugural issue of its eponymous zine published in September 2009.

Embracing online and print platforms alongside live events, A REBOURS has consciously and consistently expanded its appeal to new audiences who have previously felt intimidated by its undeniably cutting-edge reputation for avant-garde creativity…

A REBOURS brings a decadent, debauched night of revelry to London town, at the same time offering a unique real-life, print and online platform to the very best of emerging and established East End talents.
