The Editorial Assistant has a broad range of responsibilities. Haute Living publishes one magazine per month so we have a very fast-paced office, and are in need of assistance in keeping everything organized and on-track. The editorial assistant will be responsible for the following:
1) Proofreading, proofreading, proofreading
2) Transcribing interviews done by Editors
3) Writing some short pieces for the issues (in both our Haute Necessities and Haute News section), for which on-page credit will be given
4) Writing press releases about the goings-on in the Haute Living world
5) Updating Haute Blog about the world of luxury (you can see more on the blog at www.hauteliving.com
6) Assisting editor and publisher in their day-to-day routines, among other clerical responsibilities.Haute Living provides an exciting and dynamic environment where the intern will have the opportunity to learn all about the magazine industry from the ground-up, so an internship at Haute Living gives students an inside look at the magazine business. Duties include: packing samples, calling messenger, sorting filing, arranging showroom for appointments with editors, unpacking and checking in samples as they arrive, calling in past due invoices, arranging sample requests, speaking with editors regarding credit requests and appointments, and updating our inventory system, as well as other day to day tasks.
Some computer work includes basic operations in QuickBooks, Photoshop and Fishbowl. It is not necessary to know these programs before applying, but it would be a plus.Please include a brief description about yourself along with your resume.
