SURFACE is now accepting resumes for our Spring 2008 internship program.

An acclaimed, visually-driven fashion and design magazine, SURFACE (www.surfacemag.com) has been at the forefront of lifestyle trends since 1995, publishing pieces on new, innovative and progressive design, architecture and style. The magazine is looking for sharp, energetic and style-savvy candidates who are ambitious and eager to learn about the publishing industry. Each department of the magazine (Editorial, Advertising, Marketing & Promotions, and Publishing) offers separate internships. Knowledge of Macintosh systems is preferred.

SURFACE operates bi-coastally with offices in New York and San Francisco. Both locations require a minimum commitment of three-months (at 16-20 hours per week). Resumes are reviewed as needed and candidates are contacted when interviews are appropriate.

INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Interns will have both administrative and department-specific responsibilities. General responsibilities include administrative and reception functions (phones, mail, faxing, supply orders, etc.).

Department-specific responsibilities will include:
Advertising – Updating databases, conducting media research, media kit mailings
Promotions – Working closely with the promotions team to prepare for and execute promotional events for the magazine
Editorial* – Conducting editorial research, fact checking articles, attending editorial meeting and providing general support for the editorial staff
Publishing – Updating databases, conducting research
